Policy Issuance Before Surgery

For Complication Guarantee Insurance to be valid, the policy must be issued and activated before the planned surgical or medical procedure is performed.

Insurance applications made after the surgery or treatment procedure is completed are considered outside the scope and cannot benefit from policy coverage.

Coverage Period

The insurance coverage guarantees protection against medical complications that may arise after the performed surgery within specific time frames. In standard plans:

• The first 180 days (6 months) following the surgery date are covered for complications assessed under the policy.
• Depending on the nature of the treatment, the procedure performed, and the selected insurance package, this protection period may extend to 12 months (1 year) in some plans.
• Treatment expenses for complications diagnosed within the coverage period and compliant with policy terms are reimbursed within the specified coverage limits.

Treatment at Authorized Healthcare Facilities Condition

For the insurance to be valid, surgeries must be performed at facilities that are:

• Authorized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey,
• Authorized to accept international patients,
• Holding a Health Tourism Authorization Certificate or Health Tourism Accreditation Certificate,

such as hospitals, medical centers, or healthcare institutions. This requirement is applied to ensure patient safety and guarantee that the healthcare services provided meet national and international standards.

Extensive and Comprehensive Coverage

Health Tourism Complication Guarantee Insurance is one of the most comprehensive international health insurance solutions developed to cover complications that may arise after optional aesthetic and surgical procedures.

The policy covers numerous complications defined in current medical literature and associated with relevant medical procedures. Each case is reviewed for coverage eligibility in accordance with independent medical evaluation processes and policy terms.

Examples of complications that may be covered include:

• Infections: Bacterial, viral, or other types of infections that may develop in the surgical site or related areas.
• Bleeding and Hematoma Formation: Abnormal bleeding or blood accumulation that may occur after surgical intervention.
• Seroma Formation: Complications resulting from fluid accumulation between tissues after a surgical procedure.
• Wound Healing Problems: Situations such as slower-than-expected healing, wound separation, or delayed wound closure.
• Tissue and Skin Problems: Tissue loss, healing issues due to circulatory disorders, or related surgical complications.
• Implant and Prosthesis-Related Complications: Implant displacement, capsular contracture, or medically necessary corrective interventions.
• Functional and Structural Complications: Functional disorders or situations requiring anatomical correction that may arise depending on the nature of the procedure performed.
• Medically Necessary Revision Procedures: Additional medical or surgical interventions deemed necessary by a physician to address the complication.

No Mandate for Affiliated Institutions

There is no requirement to adhere to a specific hospital chain or network of affiliated institutions to receive coverage under the insurance. In the event of a complication, patients may seek treatment at:

• Authorized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey,
• Health care facilities authorized to provide services within the scope of health tourism,
• Holding the necessary official accreditations,

This structure allows policyholders to access the required health services more quickly and flexibly, without being limited to specific centers.

Coverage of Treatment Expenses

Expenses that may arise during the treatment process of complications deemed eligible under the policy include:

• Doctor consultations,
• Hospitalization costs,
• Operating room and surgery fees,
• Laboratory and imaging services,
• Medical material expenses,
• Surgical interventions to address the complication,
• Other medically necessary treatment services,
